Although I spent nearly three decades working for an international nonprofit, I never intended Naomi’s Legacy to be a novel about a nonprofit foundation.
During my nonprofit years, I had the privilege of seeing dedicated people work to change lives. I watched leaders wrestle with difficult decisions, donors invest in causes they believed in, and ordinary people accomplish extraordinary things when they worked together. I drew on those experiences to create an authentic backdrop for Naomi’s Legacy, but the heart of this story grew into something much more universal.
Abigail believes she can protect the people she loves by carrying every burden herself. David believes his past mistakes have permanently defined him. Naomi believes both of them are wrong.
Over the years, I’ve met people whose lives were changed by grace, forgiveness, and second chances. Their stories reminded me that redemption rarely happens all at once. It’s usually built one honest decision at a time. My hope is that when readers close Naomi’s Legacy, they remember that legacies are never really about buildings, organizations, or even the people who begin them. They’re about the lives that continue because someone cared enough to show up.
