About Survival Instinct

I don’t know about you, but I usually think about survival instinct as the powerful urge to either run or fight off an imminent threat. Psychologists call it “fight” or “flight,” and it comes with strong emotions that get our adrenaline flowing and our bodies moving.

We in the 21st Century experience different situations than did our cave-dwelling ancestors–or even people in the early 20th Century. There’s the roller-coaster ride of the stock market, balancing the demands from work and family, and, for many, spiritual expectations and lessons, including secrets we’re too ashamed to tell anyone.

All of this fits Frankie Shep in my new book just released today: Survival Instinct. It’s Book 2 in the Frankie Shep Suspense Novella series.

Survival Instinct by Karen Randau

Frankie’s Story

Just when Frankie thinks her life finally is back on track, her airplane crashes on a high peak in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains.

With no food, water, or shelter in arctic conditions, she awaits certain death.

But survival instinct kicks in when she finds a toddler and a dog who won’t make it off the mountain without her. Despite waning strength when she comes down with the flu, she taps into skills her dad taught her as a child in an unlikely attempt to overcome unspeakable odds.

What she doesn’t know is that someone crashed the airplane on purpose and will do anything to make sure all survivors perish.
